May 30, 2020 | Celebrating Preservation Month: Witness Innovation on Main Street |
Around the nation, local Main Street programs are responding to the COVID-19 crisis with innovation and creativity. These efforts work to preserve the commercial districts, cultural assets, and community spaces that capture the history and identity of our nation's downtowns. Now, perhaps more than ever, these places become our touchstones: reminders of who we are, where we have been, and what we will strive to maintain through this crisis.
In honor of Preservation Month, the National Trust for Historic Preservation (NTHP) is sharing 31 unique virtual experiences of historic places around the country. Today, Day 30 of their Virtual Preservation Month initiative, NTHP is celebrating the innovative ways that Main Street programs are responding to the challenges of COVID-19 through an inspiring video. "In this video, you’ll see firsthand how Main Street leaders are supporting small businesses, maintaining quality of life, and buoying their community members’ spirits," writes NTHP. We couldn't agree more.
